POSTER DEADLINES AND UPCOMING REVIEW WORK

You should all have completed the drafting work due by last night's deadline (see booklet, notices and my blog posts). Don't forget your billing block on the poster (see the bottom of the short film poster above) - you can use the interactive version we've put on the k drive (thanks to Sam Gregory for that!) and simply add in your own details. You must refer at some point to the production company name you should have devised, and probably also funding organisations (use my links to the right, or search for short film funding via google). By that deadline you should also have analysed existing posters (feature length or short films) using the check list in the booklet, and the application of the 5 key concepts (see lesson slides on moodle, booklet and your notes from the transition period).
Upcoming deadlines:

Deadline 2: Friday February 1st 4.10pm

First photoshop group drafts of poster to appear on blog, showing
draft layout, branded title, funding information etc (see checklist),
(1 per group), as an image file (photoshop file saved as jpeg)
AUDIENCE FEEDBACK ON DESIGN IDEAS RECORDED ON BLOG

Sunday 3rd February, 9pm: evidence of research into the forms and conventions of Little White Lies with annotated EXAMPLES

POSTER TASK
We'll be introducing this task in lessons this week. Have a look at the brief on moodle and the deadlines. The first (MONDAY 28TH) is very soon! Search for posters for short films like the one above to do your research (try 'oscar nominated short films'). FOR FESTIVAL INFORMATION (EG SUNDANCE) AND IDEAS FOR SHORT FILM DISTRIBUTION, STUDY THE LINKS TO THE RIGHT.

SNOW DAY-DEADLINE DAY!!

As college closed today (FRIDAY), and some people were banking on that time, the deadline for editing will be extended to Wednesday 23rd January.

Tuesday 15 January 2013

EDITING DEADLINE IS THIS FRIDAY, JAN 18TH!

Many groups need to work really hard now to try to meet that deadline. Study the list of required elements for the deadline below and make sure these (AND ALL PREVIOUS DEADLINE ITEMS)  are on the blog by this date. You will need to contact me and explain if you are unable to make this deadline, otherwise marks will be deducted for organisation and planning under the mark descriptors.
Many groups are STILL NOT DOING ENOUGH ON THE BLOG! This is a crucial part of your INDIVIDUAL MARK and if you leave the blog as it is, many of you WILL NOT ACHIEVE MORE THAN LEVEL 2! Use my suggestions of exemplar blogs, and also comments I've made.
THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER SHORT FILM EDITING LESSONS AFTER THIS FRIDAY.

Final Deadline Four: Editing
Final edit (vision and sound) completed, with no further time being allocated

On the group blog by the deadline below:

- frequent posts explaining the editing process, aims, techniques, decisions, choices and any reasonable difficulties experienced with technologies. Use terms wherever appropriate
- audience feedback on the finished film (use the areas listed for questions in unit G325 to help you focus on questions to your audience) – gathered via the blog, social networking sites and other means, and recorded on the blog
- the finished film uploaded via youtube to the blog
- further research and planning for the 2 Ancillary Tasks (see later advice on this)

HAPPY NEW YEAR! NOW THE HARD WORK REALLY STARTS!

YOUR NEXT DEADLINE IS VERY SOON!
YOUR EDITING DEADLINE IS FRIDAY JANUARY 18TH (SOUND AND VISION).
IN ADDITION YOU WILL BE INTRODUCED TO THE POSTER BRIEF NEXT WEEK, AND A DRAFT DEADLINE FOR THIS FOLLOWS SWIFTLY AFTERWARDS.
THOSE GROUPS STILL FILMING MUST WORK HARD TO MAKE UP FOR LOST TIME.
WORRYINGLY, MOST GROUPS DID NOT POST TO THE BLOG AT ALL OVER CHRISTMAS. THIS COULD HAVE SERIOUS CONSEQUENCES FOR YOUR MARK UNLESS SOMETHING IS DONE STRAIGHT AWAY.
REMEMBER, YOUR BLOG IS 25% OF YOUR MARK AND MUCH MORE IS EXPECTED AT A2.
